Palm Springs is known for its world-class golf, but Escena Golf Club stands out as a must-play destination. I recently had the chance to tee it up here, and it was nothing short of spectacular.
From the moment I stepped onto the property, I was captivated. The clubhouse’s sleek, modern design pairs perfectly with the surrounding desert landscape. The staff’s warm welcome made me feel like a VIP before I even touched my clubs.
The course itself is a masterpiece. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, it seamlessly blends natural beauty with strategic challenges. The first few holes eased me into the round with wide fairways, but the real test began as I approached the back nine. Bunkers, water hazards, and undulating greens demanded my full attention.
The highlight was undoubtedly the 16th hole, a stunning par-3 that combines beauty and intimidation. Framed by mountain vistas and featuring a water hazard guarding the green, it’s a hole that sticks with you long after the round. My first attempt ended up in the drink, but sinking a long putt for bogey made it memorable.
Throughout the round, the course conditions were pristine. The greens were fast but fair, rewarding good shots while punishing lapses in focus. The views of the San Jacinto Mountains were ever-present, making it hard not to pause and take it all in.
After my round, I headed to the clubhouse restaurant for a well-deserved meal. Sitting on the patio, I watched the sun dip behind the mountains, casting a golden glow over the course. The food was as exceptional as the golf – a perfect way to cap off the day.
Escena Golf Club isn’t just a round of golf; it’s an experience. Whether you’re here for the challenge, the scenery, or both, it’s a course that delivers on every level. I can’t wait to return.
