Cantigny golf club is a Chicagoland public gem that resides in Wheaton, IL about 10 minutes off the highway. Land once owned by Robert McCormick turned into a park and 27 hole championship golf course, this is a staple you have to see. Now run by Kemper Sports and General manager Terry Hanley, they offer 3, 9 hole variations proven to test you at every shot.
As you pull into the drive you might be casually met with wildlife but are sure to be in awe of their tree lined drive up to the clubhouse. When you pull into this facility you can feel the history radiating from the grounds. The practice facility in the right. The clubhouse up the drive off to the left. It truly is remarkable to see and in my opinion is one of the best course drives in the area. Cantigny offers a state of the art youth and caddy program. If you get the chance I recommend taking a caddy matched for your round.
The 3 Championship courses offered are Woodside, Lakeside and Hillside. Each course plays over 3500 yards and is sure to rest your skills. Water hazards and tight fairways push length and precision to its every limit. One thing to make note of is all of the beautiful landscape in each hole. The superintendent and crew do a marvelous job of manicuring fairways and greens, however they put on the finishing touches in the flower beds and trees.
If you get the chance you have to check out Cantigny Golf Club. They cater to your every need while providing an unmatched atmosphere that welcomes you like a home cooked meal. 3 different courses, a beautiful practice facility and a marvelous clubhouse, what more could you ask for. And if you are lucky check them out for brunch on sundays as well! Cantigny truly is one of a kind!
