Gull Lake View Golf Resort

Gull Lake View Golf Resort

Where do you start when picturing, talking, experiencing what Gull Lake really has to offer? Is it the essence of the quiet and the beauty of the woods or is it the views of elevated greens and the tree lined fairways? Gull Lake View has everything to offer a golf junkie and more.

When you pull into the resort you are met with a quiet ambiance that pulls on the strings of every golfers heart. Large putting greens and the old school club house are few of the first things that catch your eye. Being tucked away secluded in the woods, Gull lake offers an experience that you have to see first hand. With the golf industry exploding Gull lake gives you a feel of old and new school styles of golf. Offering 6 total courses and 5 within a 10 minute drive Gull Lake has it all.

From the home courses of Gull Lake, to Stonehenge expanding to Stoatin Brae, you can check every box off for a perfect golf trip. Gull Lake East and West are short playing inside of 6500 yards from the tips. However, don’t let the short yardage fool you. Tight fairways, elevated greens and blind second shorts are what you have to watch out for at every turn. Taking you out and away into the woods connected to the resort, both courses have tight fairways and trees everywhere. Come prepared to hit your shots and play target golf. If you can keep it in the fairway you can score well. I feel both courses are something that should get more recognition.

Stonehenge North and South offer very similar feels to Gull Lake East and West. with lots of trees and Beautiful picture worthy moments these two courses The slight difference here is they do open up in the fairways a little more and are not as undulated. Cascading tree lines cover from tee to green up and down. Fairways slope and move with and against you throughout this beautiful 36 hole design. Don’t be fooled either as this course does play inside 6800 yards as well. Once again if you miss the fairway you will make your next shot much harder than expected.

Stoatin Brae is the most notable of the courses offered at this resort. Listed as the 2021 national course of the year this link style course stretches over 6800 yards playing as a par 71. When pulling onto the grounds you are met with a winding road that leads to the top of the bluff. Overlooking the landscape is a beautiful driving range and a lovely spot for a party or elegant event. This course is much tougher than it appears on the scorecard. Quick greens and tight approach shots are what lie ahead from shot to shot. When we visited it was in the end of spring and the fescue was long but playable. If you were lucky enough to find your ball you were likely met with a chance to get a club on the ball. However good luck controlling that shot into the green or even to a safe area of play. The most notable and in my opinion, coolest part of this course is their version of a halfway house that you are able to access more than just at the turn. Their course design allows you to loop back and stay refreshed in the hot months and warm in the colder ones. This course is a slight up charge on the package offered at gull lake but worth every penny!

Gull lake is a great getaway if you are looking for a full golf package. Good golf, great views and even better people are always a recipe for success. They are very reasonably priced compared to their competition and truly captivate the epitome of Pure Michigan golf. Gull lake is a must see if you ever get the chance!
